Pisces rules the 12th house of hospitals, prisons, sickness, karmic debts, secret affairs, and self-sabotage. However, it also rules meditation, our guides, the veil between this dimension and others, the subconscious, channeling angelic beings and music. It’s the last stop and the most mysterious house where things often stay hidden even from themselves. This is the quiet house of self-reflection, and of being selfless and charitable. Neptune, the planet of dreams and deception, rules Pisces and the 12th house.
Pisces are very giving people. They would do anything to help others. They want to help by giving advice, their time and kindness.
Two fish rule Pisces: the one they show the world, and the one they hide from the world and often themselves. One fish represents reality and the other the spiritual world. They can be the ones who appear to have no problems, cheers everyone up, and then goes home and drinks and cries a river. Pisces and people ruled by the 12th house can be the most spiritual people but can also: lead a secret life of such things as drugs, or other addictions and affairs. The two fish with two lives seem to swim together in this life. They live in this world and the other world all at the same time.
They tend to be extremely sensitive and look for ways to cope with the world. They are here to feel deeply and help others feel intensely; but sometimes they have a hard time helping themselves. They can self-sabotage themselves more than any other sign. We don’t live in world where we can walk around feeling everything all the time and be all right. So they often have a hard time figuring out how to be in this world and connect with a spiritual one.
Out of all the signs they are prone to addictions more then any other sign because they feel the pain of the world more than others. They need to learn not to fight their intuitions and sensitivity to life. They sometimes feel misunderstood and often are lonely. However, when they use their intuition they shine and spread their love.
They get some of their insights from their dreams and get many answers while they sleep. Pisces love to sleep and need a lot of it. If they can learn to clear negative beliefs from their subconscious they can become the most loving and selfless people. Pisces also will success more in life if they can try to stop negative thought forms more then any other sign.
They can be accused of living in a dream world were they avoid reality; and to be fair they often do live with rose color glasses on; but who is to say there is anything wrong with that. This is who they are. At times, they see the world not as it is but as it should be. They can have a hard time distinguishing facts from fantasy. They can create lives that seem dreamlike. Their lives are karmic ones and they walk on the path of make-believe and solitude and trying to be helpful to others all at the same time.
Because they are very emotional people it’s best for them to feel their feelings or else they could become very ill, or to turn to unhealthy addictions. They rarely show their pain to others. They are very private people and it’s hard to know how deeply they feel and what they truly think.
They almost always succeed if they listen to their intuitions. They do well in careers where they help people such as being a therapist, healer, doctor, or nurse. Also, they pick creative careers like musicians, actors, artists or writers where they can channel their sensitivity and pain into creative endeavors. These are not the corporate people of the world but the ones who want to heal it and make it more beautiful.
When things go wrong they retreat to their own world. They often go over all the bad things that happen in the world and their life. Oddly, Pisces often find comfort in suffering and somehow they know they are here to pay their karma off whatever that may be. They can create beautiful art, music and writing from their deep sadness. However, when they come out of their sadness they come back stronger and all that solitary time clears the air so they can deal with the world again. Solitude is very important for Pisces as they get many insights and are very creative during this time. They do not do well around a lot people but do better being by themselves or alone with their partner. They tend to be very romantic.
The book, The English Patient, by Michael Ondaatje, is a complicated story but is a quintessential example of the Pisces’ personality and life. Each character is one of the fish in some way: a nurse, a secret lover, a wife in love with another man that senses all the pain and despair in life, and a thief (lets not forget the dark side of the the 12th house). Hana, the nurse, deals with her own pain of love and loss as she takes care of her dying patient. The story is a flashback of the English patient’s life: one of glamour, sadness, sacrifice and great loss. The book as well as the film has a dream like quality to it much like Pisces do.
The God of the sea, Poseidon, rules Neptune so Pisces need to be around water. They use water to wash their troubles away. Long walks by the water are also good for them.
They live in dream world and they like seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. There is nothing wrong with that. If you are lucky to have a Pisces in your life you can learn a great deal from them. So put on your own rose-colored glasses and see the world not as it is, but as it should be.
